A Study on the Clinical Characteristics of Hospitalized Child and Adolescent Conduct Disorder


Abstract
Abstract-The author studied the clinical characteristics of conduct disorder who bed been admitted to a psychiatric ward, Ewha Womans University Hospital and compared with adolescent schizophrenic inpatients. @ES The results were as follows:
@EN 1. The mean age was earlier and the rate of male distribution was higher in conduct disorder group than those in schizophrenia group.
2. In birth order, the last was most high in conduct disorder group while the first in schizophrenia group(P<0.01).
Parental divorce and separation and the family history of antisocial personality disorder were more frequent in conduct disorder group compared to the schizophrenia group. The attitude of parents in conduct disorder group had been indifferent or
permissive and punitive to problem behavior.
3. Conduct disorder group showed higher rates of hyperactive behavioral problems and intelligence of conduct disorder group was higher than that of schizophrenia group(P<0.05).
4. The most common problems of conduct disorder group were(in order of frequency), not going to school (P<0.01), substance abuse(P<0.01) and running away(P<0.01) and the mean number of problems of a patients was 4. 5.
The mean frequency of physical restraints during admission was less than that of schizophrenia group(P<0.05).
5. 80.6% of patients with conduct disorder had comorbid substance use disorder (P<)0.01).
6. The outcome of OPD treatment and follow up of conduct disorder group was poor.
